Sauvignon Blanc Ried Neusetzberg DAC 2023

The Ried Neusetzberg is Krispel's most celebrated vineyard. Barren volcanic soils on steep slopes just south of Bad Gleichenberg produce Sauvignon Blanc of extraordinary concentration and complexity, a wine that regularly earns some of the highest scores Falstaff gives to Styrian white wines.

Erste Lage is the first of the two premium classification levels in the Vulkanland DAC system, requiring yields no higher than 4,875 litres per hectare. The 2022 vintage of this wine was awarded 93 Falstaff points by Peter Moser and a gold medal at the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon 2023 in a blind tasting of 1,120 wines.

Fine yellow tropical fruit, lychee and guava on the nose with floral nuances and a hint of blossom honey. Juicy and elegant on the palate with white peach, pineapple and cassis, fine acidity and a mineral finish that is impossibly light for a wine of this depth.
