Rkatsiteli is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world. While Europe was still figuring out viticulture, people in Georgia were already making wine from this grape. Tiko Estate grows it on 41-year-old vines at 530 metres altitude in Tsinandali, where the vines have had four decades to push deep into the soil and pull up all the complexity the earth has to offer. Part of it is aged in French oak barrels for ten months, giving it a creamy quality alongside the white peach, nectarine and grapefruit. If you have never tried a Georgian white wine before, this is the one to start with. Only 3,500 bottles were made.
