Weißburgunder is one of Austria's most underappreciated white varieties. In Styria, on the volcanic slopes of the Vulkanland, it produces something that most people do not expect from Pinot Blanc: character.
Krispel's organic Weißburgunder from the Straden village wines in the DAC classification carries the terroir of this landscape clearly. Fresh white pear and meadow herbs on the nose with a delicate floral undercurrent. On the palate it is medium bodied, freshly structured and precise with stone fruit and a salty mineral finish that speaks directly of the basalt and shell limestone soils beneath the vines.
