You have probably never tried Auxerrois. Most people have not. There are only 2,500 hectares of it planted in the entire world.
That is exactly why you should.
The Linsenbusch Auxerrois from Dr. Josef Kohr comes from a single vineyard in Ruppertsberg, carefully selected and aged in large oak casks that give it a depth and richness that sets it apart from almost everything else in a white wine glass. Ripe quince, pear and a beautifully subtle hint of walnut and caramel. On the palate it is opulent, creamy and long, with a complexity that keeps revealing itself the longer it sits in the glass.
Think of it as Pinot Gris's more interesting, less predictable cousin. More body, more texture, more to say.
At 14% it is a serious wine that rewards food. Try it with strong cheese, baked salmon or a good lamb dish. Or open it on a quiet evening and give it your full attention.
This is a wine for the curious.

Dr. Josef Köhr
Weingut Dr. Josef Köhr has farmed the same corner of the Pfalz since 1648, making it one of Germany's most historically rooted family estates. Under the current generation, red varieties now make up half the range, oak ageing has been extended, and a new Syrah signals a producer with one eye firmly on the future. Sixteen hectares at the foot of the Pfälzerwald, farmed with the confidence that comes from nearly 400 years of unbroken knowledge.
