Orange wine sounds strange if you have never tried it. It is not made from oranges. It is a white grape that has been left in contact with its skins for a long time, the same way red wine is made, which turns it amber in colour and gives it a texture and depth that regular white wine does not have. Kisi is the grape here, and it spent six months on its skins inside a traditional Georgian clay pot called a Qvevri, buried in the earth to keep the temperature stable. Georgia has been making wine this way for 8,000 years. Ripe apricots, peaches and a long honeyed finish. For people who think they do not like white wine, this often changes their mind.
