Mtsvane means green in Georgian, named after the colour the grapes turn in the vineyard before they ripen. These come from a village called Babaneuri, up in the mountains of Kakheti where the nights are cool enough to keep everything tasting fresh and alive. The result is a white wine that tastes like exactly that: fresh and alive. Wild currant on the nose, a mineral crispness that is hard to describe except to say it tastes like clean mountain air in a glass. Light enough to drink on a Tuesday evening. Interesting enough to talk about.
