This is Pinot Noir the way Burgundy meant it to be. Elegant, fruit-forward and made for the table.
The Hautes Cotes de Beaune Rouge from Domaine Philippe Germain comes from vineyards at altitude in Nantoux, where the cooler climate produces Pinot Noir with natural freshness and a minerality that sets it apart from warmer region reds. Aged in oak barrels for eight to ten months, it has just enough structure to develop beautifully over a few years without ever becoming heavy.
Red cherry, raspberry and a light spice on the nose with a subtle earthy note underneath. On the palate it is fruity and fresh, with fine tannins and a clean finish that makes it effortlessly food friendly.
Open it slightly cool, around 14 to 16 degrees, and pair it with poultry, light red meat, pasta or salmon. Or just enjoy it on its own as an introduction to everything Burgundy red can be.
