Auxey Duresses sits in a hidden valley between Meursault and Saint Romain. Most people drive past it on the way to more famous villages. That is their loss.

Les Grandes Vignes translates simply as the big vines, and old vines in Auxey Duresses produce Pinot Noir with a natural elegance and roundness that is hard to find at this price anywhere in Burgundy. Philippe Germain's 2023 is a perfect example: red cherry, strawberry and subtle spice on the nose with a gentle earthy note and light oak that ties it all together.

On the palate it is round and silky, with ripe red fruit, tannins that never get in the way and a clean fresh finish that makes it genuinely versatile at the table.

Poultry, veal, salmon, mushroom pasta. Or simply on its own as a beautiful glass of Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Domaine Philippe Germain is based in Nantoux, a small village in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune just minutes from Meursault, Beaune and Pommard. What began as a 9-hectare family estate in 1995 has grown to 22 hectares under Philippe Germain and his nephew Maxime Champaud, producing around 120,000 bottles a year across a wide range of white and red Burgundies. The domaine holds Terra Vitis and HVE level 3 certification, farming without herbicides, pesticides or insecticides.
