Aleksandrouli is the grape behind Khvanchkara, Georgia's most celebrated sweet red. But this is not that. Dry Aleksandrouli from the mountains of Racha is something completely different: lighter, fresher and with a delicacy that the bigger, warmer reds of eastern Georgia simply cannot replicate. The monks who hid precious vines in these mountains during times of invasion knew what they were protecting. Red fruit, a gentle spice and a mountain freshness that makes it one of the most drinkable reds in the entire range.
